In 1981, Randy Homan decided to start the Best Nashville Custom Cabinets company around. Originally, Randy had built a small equipment shed for a tree nursery business he had. But after separating from his business partner, and not knowing what to do for two weeks, he decided to turn the nursery shed into a cabinet shop. Randy had excelled in building and the trades for several years. He was an extremely hard worker who had worked in every area of the trades from concrete, homebuilding, installing factory comments, and it previously partnered and another custom cabinet shop. But HCC really started on that small gravel floor shed and grew into what exists today.
For years, Randy only built the Best Nashville Custom Cabinets. He measured, design, and built every aspect of the cabinets. Starting from the scratch that he wrote on, he created some of the most beautiful kitchens you’ve ever seen. Over the years, clients learned that his name, was a trusted one he never one time use advertising to build his company, and relied on his audits of the business. By doing this, Holman’s cabinets became a trusted name for cabinets in the Tennessee area. One client would recommend HCC to another and so forth. And many contractors that we have worked with slowly became close friends over the years after doing so much business together.
We continue to strive to be the Best Nashville Custom Cabinets company around. As a family run business, plus Maya who has been at HCC from us 20 years and counting, we have kept every generation involved in the business. As years, Nick, Randy’s oldest son had grown up in the business. He grew up sleeping, sending door panels, and running parts back and forth from the shop. In 2001, Nick decided to join his dad at the carpet shop full-time. That same year, they expanded their small shop to more than doubling its size of shop space and adding a showroom.
At this time, Randy was good and his bills were paid. But, Nick was made in late 2005, and by 2007 had two children and a new house payment. Times resigned to become rough. No cabinets were coming in, the bills continue to come. Nick would take on jobs, like pressure washing, plumbing, or electrical things, as will small cabinet jobs here and there. Soon, time brought more work in as economy began to stabilize. HCC began to grow a new group of clientele came with it. New contractors begin to come in and HCC began to grow once again as years before. The new problem is finding faithful help. In July 2015, Randy’s middle son also saw the opportunity at the cabin business and decided to join the team as the official installer of Homans.
The Randy is still alive, he does not take part (much) in the day to day activities of HCC. He will run and help if needed every once in a while. He is very humbled and excited to have his sons work together in the business he founded so many years ago.
